Attention all foodies! Savor Sarasota is coming up from June 1-14.

Here is an interesting fact for those new to Sarasota and those who live here…Sarasota has the highest concentration of Zagat® rated restaurants in Florida.  It makes sense because even just spending a weekend here provides you with so many quality, food options.

79 restaurants are set to participate this year in the 12th annual Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week.   This 2 week extravaganza is hosted by Visit Sarasota County (VSC), and provides everyone an opportunity to try new restaurants and revisit favorites by enjoying pre-fixe three-course dinner menus and multi course lunch menus.  This is a great chance to sample eclectic offerings of Sarasota’s diverse cuisine.  Restaurants also encourage patrons to pay it forward by giving a voluntary donation to All Faiths Food Bank’s Campaign to End Summer Hunger.

The Traveling Gals were lucky enough to be included to participate in the kick-off event at Salute!, 23 N Lemon Ave. in downtown Sarasota.  Salute owner, Laszlo Bevardi offered a great venue and wonderful homemade pasta with wines from his own vineyard in Italy.  His next door neighbor, the always fun Mattison’s treated us to salmon with decadent risotto.  Sarasota’s much loved, Michael’s on East gave everyone a taste of their seafood bisque.  Downtown’s sought after sushi extraordinaire, Tsunami delighted with a tuna tower and tempura roll.  Since I try to stay on the healthy side, I stuck to either a bite or polling everyone on their favorite.  Ashley’s favorite was the risotto.  Carol loves everything from Tsunami.  My favorite bite was the tuna tower for sure.
