Alpha Centauri Expeditions and Animal Kingdom have brought deep space travel to Disney World! Okay, not really, but they did create an amazing new world to explore called Pandora: The World of Avatar. The tagline is “a world beyond belief,” and they are not wrong about this. It really is an incredibly immersive area. Full disclosure: We have never actually seen the movie Avatar. When Disney announced that they would be doing an Avatar-themed land, we were excited for something new but didn’t really care that it was about Avatar. It took Disney about 10 years to actually build Pandora,…

Berkshire County, or The Berkshires, is a region in Western Massachusetts. It is known for beautiful mountains, a vibrant arts scene, and plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy all year round.  I spent a week in Western Massachusetts visiting a friend and got to see a lot of this area and had a great time! This part of New England may not be at the top of your list, but it is definitely worth checking out, especially in the summer. You have a few options for getting to Berkshire County. You can fly into Hartford/Bradley, Boston, Albany,…

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is perhaps Disney’s most underrated theme park. It is amazing to walk around and see all the details that went into the different themed areas. The best part about Animal Kingdom, though, is the animals of course! Kilimanjaro Safaris is definitely a must do. There are also two wonderful walking trails where you can see some of the animals a little closer, Maharajah Jungle Trek and Pangani Forest Exploration. If you take the Wildlife Express, you will see Rafiki’s Planet Watch where there is a petting zoo. Throughout the park keep your eyes open because you never know…

A Day at the Circus Last weekend, The Traveling Gals were lucky enough to be invited to spend the morning training at the Circus!  Sarasota and the Circus have a long history together.  Sarasota was the winter headquarters for John Ringling and is known as the “Circus Capital of the World”.  The international circus community continues to be an integral part of the city’s atmosphere. This was our first time at the Circus Arts Conservatory and shame on us because it is blocks away from our home.  The slogan More Than a Circus is extremely accurate.   The building is shaped…

Ghana in Pictures Ghana is in West Africa on the Gulf of Guinea and bordered by the Ivory Coast, Togo, and Burkina Faso. As it was a former British colony, the main language spoken is English and the people are very friendly. This makes Ghana a great spot for a first time visit to Africa. In fact, many travel guides refer to Ghana as “Africa for beginners.” Accra is the capital city where there is the most to see. Ashley had the opportunity to spend two weeks in Ghana traveling from the south to the northern part of the country….

Caribbean Cruise Aboard the Rhapsody of the Seas We just got off a seven day Caribbean cruise aboard Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas. Of course we had a fabulous time, even though the weather wasn’t that great. It’s hard to have a bad time on a cruise! This one left out of Tampa and stopped in Roatan, Honduras, Belize City, Belize, Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico. Although the Rhapsody is one of Royal Caribbean’s smaller ships, there is still plenty to do. This was also one of the best crews we have ever experienced on a cruise. They were…

Port of Call: Nassau, The Bahamas A popular stop on a Caribbean or Bahamas cruise is Nassau. Nassau is famous for Paradise Island which is home to the Atlantis Resort. Paradise Island is a three mile stretch of land that protects Nassau’s harbor. Nassau is the capital city of The Bahamas, and there are lots of really fun and interesting things to do here even if you are only here for the day. Nassau was contested by the English, French, and Spanish, so there are lots of different cultural influences around the area. There are several museums that showcase the…

It’s very disappointing when you go on the vacation you planned and saved for and it rains the whole time. We have experienced this before and it’s super frustrating. Most recently it rained the entire time Ashley was in Georgia for New Year’s weekend. Not a great way to start 2017. You might feel like you are stuck in the hotel room all day, but it doesn’t have to be like that! While the rain might alter your plans, you can still have a great time and explore the city you are visiting. Grab your ponchos and have fun. (more…)
