Quebec City is a great place for a long weekend. Explore the city and experience the French-Canadian culture. In the summer there are lots of street performers and festivals. If you want to brave the cold, Quebec’s Winter Carnival is a large, colorful festival that is definitely worth experiencing.

  • Old Quebec: Explore this living museum where you can see some of Quebec’s most famous landmarks. Stop in the boutique shops, enjoy the cafes, and experience the atmosphere at this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Le Chateau Frontenac: Probably the most famous landmark in Quebec, this hotel was built in 1893 and has a long and interesting history, like D-Day being planned here. It is reportedly the most photographed hotel in the world.
  • Battlefields Park: This is where the Battle of Quebec took place. It’s a beautiful place to take a stroll.
  • Notre Dame de Quebec Basilica: Built in 1647 (although it has been rebuilt several times), this basilica features stunning neo-Baroque interior. Tour the crypt and learn about some of the 900 that were laid to rest here.
  • Montmorency Falls Park: Come for the 272 foot waterfall, stay for the great hiking and biking trails as well as zip lining. This is about 7 miles outside of Old Quebec.
  • Levis Ferry: View Quebec City from a different perspective. It’s great both during the day and to see the city lit up at night.
  • Place Royale: This quaint area with shops and cafes is considered the birthplace of the French colony.
  • Terrasse Dufferin: Below the Chateau Frontenac, see beautiful views of the St. Lawrence River. During the summer there are street performers. In the winter there is an ice toboggan.
  • The Citadel: This is the largest British built fortress in North America. It has been an active military site since 1850. You can learn about the Canadian Armed Forces at the museum, as well as take a guided tour by a soldier who is stationed here.
  • Musee de la Civilisation: Learn about the history of human society in Quebec in this interactive museum.
